Sunday was Bold Women’s Day. Yesterday Women’s History Month began. Today is Read Across America Day (selected because it is the birthday of the beloved Dr. Seuss). International Women’s Day arrives next Monday. The list of people, events, and things to celebrate and remember goes on and on. Why, you can even celebrate the humble pickle, if you had a mind to. And why not?
Here’s the reality. This God-given life is good. It is very good. And there is much to honor, celebrate and remember in this good life. Even in the moments when despair looms or difficulties mount, blessings abound. Miracles still happen.
This day and always, may the Holy Spirit open your eyes to the blessings of your life, stir your heart to appreciate them, and inspire your mouth to say a prayer of thanks.
Linda Post Bushkofsky is the executive director of Women of the ELCA. This day she is especially thankful for loving family and friends.
