So many of us exist merely to survive. We don’t exist to thrive. We live to get through each day, and truth be told, sometimes it’s hard for us to get through each moment. We convince ourselves that we don’t deserve the same joy or love that others do.
We spend our time focused on others, and if we are being honest with ourselves, we do this so we don’t have to focus on our own lives. How many of us really believe what writer Brené Brown said: “[We] are imperfect and [we] are wired for struggle, [yet we] are still worthy of love and belonging.”
Why is falling in love with ourselves so difficult?
This message is an excerpt from “Falling in love with me” by Rozella Haydée White in the February issue of Café. Today we remember Julian of Norwich, renewer of the church, who died around 1416.
