I have been running for a long time. The right shoes may protect your feet, the right gels may fuel your steps, but they alone will not propel you into the arms of those who wait for you at the end of your race.
We can’t guarantee our success by buying all the right gear or eating all the right things or even having the right body. We can do everything right and still be at the mercy of something unseen. Our salvation is entirely dependent on the cross, on Jesus, on his sacrifice for us, no matter how closely we follow a checklist of earthly laws. It’s out of our hands. It’s out of our control.
All you can do is have faith. Faith that the cross has saved you. Relentless forward momentum in this race we call Christian life is reliant on faith and trust in the unseen and the intangible. Run with perseverance. Look to the cross. Jesus will perfect your faith.
