Six months ago, I was simply going through the motions of life. Then one dreary day, I found a person who helped shake things up. She helped me remember to rejoice in living and breathing. She reminded me that being here on this beautiful earth another day is something to shout with joy about. She reminded me that faith is not comfortable, but a daily struggle.
The most unlikely people and places can show us God’s love and remind us of our faith. God chooses people regardless of their life circumstances. God does not care about our social standing, socioeconomic status, race, gender or any of the “isms” to which we are constantly attached. God embraces us with open arms and says, “Yes!”
This message is an excerpt from “Reigniting my faith” by Ralen M. Robinson in the January/February 2020 issue of Gather magazine. Today we remember Athanasius, bishop of Alexandria, who died in 373.
