When I started to feel sick, I went to the doctor. The physical pain resounding through my body kept bringing me to my knees. It didn’t take long for my body’s relentless aches to start affecting my emotional and mental health. God wants me to be whole—and to be whole, we embrace what’s hard, so we don’t miss what’s good.
Maybe God intended for my name—which means beloved–to be a constant reminder of who I am so that when I enter the wilderness, it’s harder for me to question the blessing I carry with me. I think that’s how perfect love works, marking us with affection, calling us into the desert to strip away what we don’t need, and to teach us to trust what’s left.
