Jesus broke bread with all kinds of people in his brief time among us. He accepted their invitations to dine—at tables he made welcoming and safe. He saw people for who they were, not just their fancy sides, not just because of the ways they could help him out, not just because of their valuable connections with people who counted. Jesus valued each of them and considered them worthy.
Jesus is the epitome of hospitality. And that is pretty good news. God, make me into one who values others in their entirety, whether they look like me or not, believe like me or not, act like me or not, talk like me or not.
