We are invited to hear God’s voice daily, in the midst of the mundane and in surprising ways. Like an alarm ringing us awake, it might come with loud declaration, so unmistakable that we jump to our feet. Or, more likely, the voice comes to us as if in a dream, first softly and then more clear, until we realize we have been asleep and are asleep no longer. The voice of God does not usually come in the form of a bullhorn from heaven. Recognizing the voice of God is more like waking from sleep.
