Even in the midst of the chaos that often surrounded him, Jesus offered forgiveness and newness of life. He could be gentle and tender and brought to tears in grief, frustration and even doubt. He was besieged and sometimes fell weary. As he made his way to the cross he longed for the comfort of God. He is one of us. Christ sets a table before us and in the bread and in the wine he comes to us again and again. In Christ we are made whole. His very body provides our shelter, not from the world, but for the world.
