Gathering our hopes and dreams through Katie’s Fund

Katie’s Fund (the Katharina von Bora Luther Endowment Fund) enables amazing ministries in leadership development, global partnerships, and living theology. Learn about the $1 million campaign to grow Katie’s Fund. Get the inside scoop on an online financial series beginning in October.

Love Transcends Borders: LIRS and the Work of Welcome (Friday at 4 pm only)

We are called to welcome and love the stranger as Jesus shares this message still today with all disciples. Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) is at the forefront of this mission and vision in the ongoing work of welcome to Afghan Allies, Ukrainians fleeing war and violence and as we work for justice in reuniting children and families at the southern border. As the vision for LIRS moves forward with expanded outreach across the US and beyond, the partnerships and programs have grown with New American Cities, Welcome Centers, and expanded support for refugees in resettlement. This interactive workshop will trace our 84 years of “welcoming the stranger” as made possible through many of the congregations of the ELCA and how many WELCA units, faith communities, and individuals can be involved today!

AMMPARO and Engagement in Migrant Ministry (Friday at 2 pm only)

How can you and your congregation engage in accompanying migrants in your community? How is the ELCA accompanying migrants and refugees around the world? How can you effectively advocate for justice for migrants and refugees?

The ELCA strategy as adopted by our Churchwide Assembly in August 2016, which currently includes work all over the Americas, is expanding to include work all over the world. Come and learn about the amazing work that our church does to accompany migrants and refugees in ministries both internationally and domestically and see how you and your congregation can get involved in your community.

This workshop is led by Mary Campbell, Giovana Oaxaca, and Raed AbuJries.
