Hundreds of Lutheran women gathered for an online event, February 16-18, 2023, under the theme Living Faithful: Called and Thriving.
This theme draws us to 1 Peter 4:7-11 from the Message that sets a rhythm between our actions and God’s that are present, past and future all at once. Living Faithful: Called and Thriving will move us faithward–shifting into leadership that is sustainable with roots that twist and turn while running deep and wide. The dis-ease of daily living coexisting with COVID-19 and long-term effects from physical health problems have implications for our mental and spiritual well-being. Understanding these implications can assist leaders in navigating their way to setting a new pace for effective leadership.

Want to build relationships? Our purpose and mission as servant leaders and an organization are all about relationships! And, making new friends and rekindling and tending to neglected relationships is the best place to start in the shift that our work at Living Faithful: Called and Thriving will bring.
All women are invited to participate in the 90-minute Thursday evening meet and greet. The women in each of the nine regions in the ELCA will meet via Zoom at 7 p.m. in their time zone, PST, CST, and EST. See below for a unique Zoom login to join the Thursday meet and greet.
1-5 p.m. CST (virtual doors open at 12:00 noon CST)
Login details arrived in your inbox after you registered at the Zoom link. Please be ready to log on at 12:00pm CST to ensure that your technology is working and to get settled. If you don’t need the tech session log on and get your favorite beverage ready, then we’ll go into breakout room at 12:15 p.m. CST for time with the community of women you are gathered with. You will automatically come back to the plenary for our session at the top of the hour.

Use the same link that was provided to you for Friday. Each days sessions will include worship, Bible study presentations, breakout time, Q&A and much more.
We will look at our purpose, our principles and our mission.
All of us are given gifts by the Holy Spirit, gifts that shape who we are and how we operate in the body of Christ. Discovering your spiritual gifts and exploring how you can better use them is part of growing in faith and life and discipleship. These gifts are part of your DNA. Spiritual gifts are as unique to you as your fingerprints and dental records. We offer you this resource and gift assessment so you can discover (or rediscover) your spiritual gifts. You can also find “Gifts for You: Opening Your Spiritual Gifts” on our resource page: welca.org/resources.

Many of you meet regularly on Zoom, but some of you might be new to the format. Before Thursday evening, please read through the guidelines and best practices below.
Zoom Software. Update your Zoom to the latest version.
Lighting. Be sure to set up so that the main light source is in front of you, shining light on your face. (Sitting on the sofa with your back to a bright window leaves your face in shadow.)
Camera. Please check to see if the lens on your phone or laptop camera is clean. Set up your laptop, phone, or webcam so that the lens is just about at eye level, and far enough away to frame your head and shoulders.
Test everything. Test your equipment by starting a meeting and turn on both camera and mic. You can practice by inviting a friend to a new meeting. Adjust sound and lighting as needed.
Change your display name. Update your name as it appears by editing your profile or by clicking on the blue square in the upper right of your video square. Please note: It’s helpful to put your SWO region/synod code and title in your display name. For example, 9Z President Susie, CWO Board Mary, Staff Eva.
Remove extraneous sounds. Turn off or silent any object in the background that may make noise. (For example, check TVs and other electronics, including phones.)
Turn off mic when not speaking. Please mute yourself whenever you’re not speaking. Unstable internet connection. If your Internet is unsteady, turn off virtual backgrounds and video filters. You can also turn off your video and use audio only, or turn off your own audio and then dial in by phone to listen in.
Attendees are invited to make a Thankoffering (before, during or after worship) to the ongoing ministries of the churchwide women’s organization. Select “Where needed most” in the dropdown menu.
Individual gifts may be safely made online using a credit or debit card by going to welca.org/give and selecting “Thankofferings” as the designation.
Alternately, a personal check made payable to Women of the ELCA, with “Thankofferings” noted on the memo line, can be mailed to: Women of the ELCA, c/o ELCA Gift Processing, PO Box 1809, Merrifield VA 22116-8009.
