I dare not offer young people in corrections institutions what I call a “gospel of fluff.” These have seen, endured and caused suffering. They sniff out hypocrisy and judgment in an instant. Each week, I must trust that somehow God will speak to the gathered sinners and saints through Word, meal and liturgy.
