On most mornings I am awake at 4:30 a.m. I offer prayers of thanksgiving, text my prayer-partner, and then, reach for my Bible for devotions. A few days ago as I was texting I realized how much things have changed in the way I engage in devotional time and how many devotional resources are available.
My thoughts then turned to the community of women disciples described in Women of the ELCA’s purpose statement. Thinking about Women of the ELCA’s discipleship ministry generated lots of question in my mind. So, I thought I would ask you a few of the questions about your devotional life.
In your response, simply list your one word answers in the order of the questions. Your responses will help us in supporting you in your calling as we develop and direct you to resources that will be helpful to you.
- Do you use more than one devotional resource? Yes or No
- What word (s) best describe(s) the resource (s) you use? Topical, issue, scriptural, or calendar-based
- Do you have a set devotion time? Yes or No
- What is your average time?
- Describe what devotion style works best for you. a. Text, short story, prayer b. Story with reflection questions c. Journal style
- How do you choose the resource (s) you use? By author, recommendations, gift, browsing the bookstore

Please, feel free to share anything more that will help us support you in growing in faith. I look forward to hearing from you and appreciate your input.
