The day I checked in to the alcohol and drug rehab facility, I had been drinking until early in the morning. After several weeks, as I carefully examined my life, I saw my pattern. Ego, pride, and stubbornness had blinded me to the damage I have done and the hurt I have inflicted, especially on those closest me.
Though I have always been a believer, I never really turned the management of my life over to God. Alcoholism was the first problem I couldn’t solve on my own, the first challenge that brought me to my knees.
An addiction that I once considered almost a betrayal by God has instead led to a new leg on my spiritual journey. I am eager to see where God is leading me. I am eager to become, with the help of my forgiving and supportive family and friends, the person God wants me to become.
