The retail markets began advertising fall sales and school promotions during the month of July. That seems too early to even think about back-to-school or planning for the fall season. Today I observed a woman loading backpacks into her car. They were filled with school supplies that will be handed out to children through a school outreach program. The colors of the backpacks reminded me of the fall season and the leaves that will soon begin to change into vibrant colors. I’m sure the students will be excited to receive backpacks filled with paper, pencils, pens, rulers, calculators and crayons.
This reminds me of the exciting news that we have committed to share as participants in Women of the ELCA. Plans are being finalized for the next synodical conventions while congregational units are making plans to share and celebrate our new resources, innovative ideas and our 25th anniversary. Units are also revitalizing and preparing to gather for the 2012-2013 Bible study “Gathered by God,” by Dr. Audrey West. Can you hear and feel the buzz as women are joining and learning about a new community of women on Facebook, receiving Daily Grace or finding new ideas on Pinterest?
