I have been a Chicago Cubs fan all my life. And for the first time in my lifetime, they are going to the World Series – the championship games of baseball!
Like so many other Cubs fans, I am convinced that they will win. But what if they don’t?
Does that mean I will no longer support them, maybe choose another team to root for? No. If not this year, maybe next year.
And that’s how it is with faith and our Christian journey. We pray and we wait. Sometimes God answers immediately. Sometimes it takes a while. And sometimes it seems like we’ll never get an answer.
But do we give up on God? No, we don’t.
We place our hope in a God who has always been with us and we remember what Isiah 40:31 says: “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
They shall never lose hope.
