Equal Exchange and Women of the ELCA are offering a chocolate seminar on Saturday, January 28 at 2:00 p.m. CST. In this 75-minute Zoom webinar, you’ll learn about the chocolate bars you love—just in time for Valentine’s Day. This is a special chocolate webinar and tasting for WELCA participants and friends across the country.
The cost of $40 includes registration for the Zoom webinar plus a tasting kit, shipped to each participant or group of participants (no larger than five people). Kits must be purchased by January 16th. The Zoom event link will be sent to the email address used on the order.
Equal Exchange staff will guide participants into the world of chocolate, from cacao production on the farm to the finished chocolate bar. Learn about the chocolate industry and why our alternative trade model is so important for cacao farmers. Then, learn about how to taste, describe, and compare chocolate bars.

“I participated in an Equal Exchange chocolate seminar in December, and I learned so much,” says Linda Post Bushkofsky, executive director. “Equal Exchange’s alternative trade model is incredibly important. Plus, as Lutheran women have known for some time, Equal Exchange’s chocolate is ever so delicious!”
This chocolate seminar is the latest collaboration between Equal Exchange and Women of the ELCA. Together with Lutheran World Relief, the two partnered in 2003-2004 with the 90-Ton Challenge that more than doubled the amount of fair trade coffee purchased by Lutherans. ELCA congregations across the church offer Equal Exchange products, either in fixed or special sales. Equal Exchange has also been a regular participant in the organization’s national gatherings.
