“Our most challenging calling may be to simply be ourselves – fearfully and wonderfully made people who praise God and serve our neighbors.”
This quote by Angela Khabeb showed up in my daily devotional app.
While I was looking for inspiration for goal setting in the new year, I found that perfect post. And like other content I’ve read using my Daily Grace app, it was the message I needed at that moment.
Women of the ELCA has offered daily devotions through their app, Daily Grace, since its inception in 2011. Writings by popular ELCA Lutheran theologians and leaders in the church offer words of hope, faith, and inspiration in daily, bite-sized pieces.
As a visual learner, I appreciate these short, straightforward messages. Often I don’t have a lot of time to digest digital content. Daily Grace serves my need to be uplifted, but also, it’s short, so I can grab the message and go.
A recent message about fear by Sonia Solomonson reads, “We can choose to let our light shine, to use the gifts we’ve been given, to be a positive presence, to love. We can choose to be about bridge-building and healing. We can choose not to let fear find a permanent home in our hearts, not let it rule our lives.”
As I begin to focus on making positive changes for the future this year, I am thankful for these daily reminders that I am whole right now.
One reviewer to the app from the Apple iTunes page wrote, “I appreciate the simplicity and profundity of the WELCA’s Daily Grace app. The daily readings are challenging, encouraging, and inspire serious contemplation. I’m grateful that WELCA blesses the community through this resource.”
