You’ll want to talk to the women in red in the exhibit hall at the Churchwide Assembly in Milwaukee, Aug. 5-10. We’ll be offering free Gather magazines, pens, screen wipes, and discount registration cards to our Gathering in Phoenix, July 16-19, 2020.
Women of the ELCA will be one of five exhibits of the ELCA’s separately incorporated ministries in Exhibit Hall D at the Wisconsin Center. Exhibits are on the third floor of the convention center near the dining area. Learn more about the Churchwide Assembly and all it has to offer.
The 927 voting members from 65 synods and more than 9,100 congregations will receive a “Just Love” screen wipe as they begin their first plenary session. The screen wipes are a practical gift as voting members use iPads to read the assembly materials. Just Love is the theme of our triennial gathering. Learn more about our gathering here.
Stop by for goodies, rest
Visitors can stop by our booth to pick up a screen wipe. While you’re there, give your feet a rest and talk with us about our many ministries – from our Raising Up Healthy Women and Girls initiative and our justice work, especially in human trafficking, to Gather magazine, the subscription-based publication of Women of the ELCA, and our free e-publications, like Café, Interchange and Bold Connections.
Learn how Women of the ELCA is not a “one size fits all” organization. Its ministries in congregations and communities across the United States and the Caribbean are as diverse as the women and girls who participate, and its work is best explained through their lives and ministries.
To discover more about what Women of the ELCA has to offer, read our report to the Churchwide Assembly. You might be surprised to learn that we are self-supporting. “Women of the ELCA … is responsible for establishing and maintaining its own finances,” according to the report, citing the constitutions of the ELCA and Women of the ELCA.
Lisa Plorin, president of the churchwide executive board, will speak before the Churchwide Assembly Thursday, Aug. 8, at 5 p.m. CT. She will introduce Women of the ELCA and a video inviting participants to the Gathering. We’ll post the video on our Gathering site (welcatg.org) after the assembly.
