Ann Svennungsen, bishop of the Minneapolis Area Synod of ELCA, welcomed voting members of the Tenth Triennial Convention to Minneapolis, July 11-13.
“How fun it is to celebrate this 10th event the same year we celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.”
Svennungsen said “following Jesus isn’t easy in 2017 as it wasn’t for (Martin) Luther or even the early church.”
She thanked the nearly 300 voting members for devoting their time and making a commitment to be at the convention.
“Even more, I thank you for all the days and all the hours you give for the sake of your congregations and communities,” she added.
She thanked them for the hours they spend in Bible study as well.
“Small groups gathered around the Word of God in prayer and support to one another is one of the most powerful ways our Holy Spirit is at work,” Svennungsen said.
Voting members and participants of Women of the ELCA, the women’s organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, are in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for Tenth Triennial Convention (July 11-13) and Gathering (July 14–16).
