Learn of the Chippewa Cree Tribe
Imagine learning and experiencing the history and culture of the Chippewa Cree including bead work, dancing and drumming. Imagine visiting an archeological dig and buffalo jump, an historical battlefield or a Lewis and Clark interpretative center. You can do this and more when participating in a cross-cultural exchange experience coordinated by Women of the ELCA.
The next cross-cultural immersion experience (CCIE) will take place September 21-26, 2013, on the Rocky Boy’s Reservation of the Chippewa Cree Tribe in Box Elder, Mont. The host congregation, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, has been working among the people of the Chippewa Cree Tribe since the early 1920s.
Registration is $335 and it includes most meals, sleeping accommodations and activity fees. The Rocky Boy’s Reservation is in the mountainous area of Montana and is not ADA compliant in every way; regrettably, people requiring mobility assistance will find their experience limited.
The registration deadline for the 2013 CCIE is August 17, 2013, or upon receiving eight paid registrations, whichever comes first. A minimum of six registrations is required to cover event costs; if the minimum is not met, the event will be cancelled. Direct questions to Inez Torres Davis, director for justice.
