Giving thanks for bold women with frosting and sprinkles on top
What are your plans for Bold Women’s Day on February 24? The women at Joy Lutheran in Prescott, Wis., celebrated early with inspiring worship and sweet cupcakes. And, they combined their celebrations of Bold Women’s Day and the 25th anniversary of Women of the ELCA.
Marcia Lindseth, president of the Northwest Wisconsin Synod synodical women’s organization called it an inspiring Bold Women’s Day. Over 30 women helped lead the service. Three women gave the message entitled, ‘Women Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow.’
Marcia wrote, “The message focused on three women from the Old Testament who were in Jesus’ lineage, . . . about women who started our church back in 1974 and worked hard . . . through the merger in 1987 and then . . .what our women are doing today and what can happen in the future.”
Before they enjoyed colorful cupcakes featuring Women of the ELCA’s 25th Anniversary, they shared a slideshow with 100 photos of women from the congregation since 1974. “It was a powerful piece –visually seeing all that the women of Joy actually do!”
There are so many ways to celebrate bold women and the 25th anniversary. Have you made a gift to the 25th Anniversary Appeal? Half of every dollar goes to the ELCA Malaria Campaign and half goes to support the ministries of Women of the ELCA.
