The opening worship on Thursday, July 24, will be a Thankoffering service. For more than 100 years, Lutheran women have given thanks to God and dollars to mission through Thankofferings. At opening worship, 100 percent of Thankofferings received will go to the churchwide women’s organization to support the entire ministry of Women of the ELCA.
At the closing worship on Sunday, July 27, the offering will benefit three ministries: International Leaders – Women (50 percent); Katie’s Fund (25 percent); and, Women of the ELCA Scholarships (25 percent). “International Leaders – Women” is an initiative to raise $4 million to increase scholarships and educational opportunities for 200 women leaders in the global church. The fundraising goal is part of Always Being Made New: The Campaign for the ELCA. At the previous triennial gathering in Spokane, the offering at closing worship totaled $36,188. All checks for this offering should be made payable to Women of the ELCA.
