The triennial gathering is full of fun and fellowship, but the gathering is much more than just a weekend away. The gathering is a spiritual event. Prepare yourself so that you are able to be most open and accepting to God. Get enough sleep in the days leading up to the gathering. The more rested you are, the more receptive you can be. Eat well, avoiding junk food, and drink enough water every day. When your physical self is operating at its best, you can more easily focus on spiritual matters. Exercise daily. The gathering always involves a lot of walking, so you want to be prepared for that.
Continue your triennial preparations in prayer, asking for God’s guidance and presence throughout. Pray that you might be open to new experiences and opportunities, open to where the Spirit might be leading you. Pray, too, for those who remain at home while you travel. Meditate on the gathering theme and verse, Isaiah 58:12.
