Because I am a child of God, I am called in my humanness to face a world of continuing contrasts: terror and tenderness, justice and mercy, welcoming the prodigal son and carrying out tough love, mourning and celebrating, shadows and illumination. We are called to struggle with concerns that don’t have neat fixes. Sometimes this means living in the veiled shadows of complex, untidy relationships. I think this invites us to enter into the mystery of God.
