To pray for others is an act of love. It is the loving act of a God who not only became one with us but made us each members of one body in Christ.
There is a principle in physics called “sympathetic vibration.” Musicians sometimes use this principle to shape and amplify sound. When two strings are tuned to an identical pitch, striking one will instantly cause the other to vibrate in sympathy.
Jesus, the beloved heart of God, is in such perfect tune with humanity that he weeps with our tears, aches with our pain, groans with our longing. In turn, God has connected us in such a way that, “If one member suffers, all suffer together with it…” (1 Corinthians 12:26).
