For Mary, the angel’s arrival definitely signaled new possibilities. She who was young and as yet unmarried had no idea before the angel’s announcement that she would be carrying a child—and the Son of God, no less. We don’t know what’s coming, either.
What we have for sure is right now, the present moment. We don’t know what’s ahead in the next moment, day, month or year. And we don’t know all the possibilities God may have in store for us as we enter this Advent.
This is a good time to ask: What wants to be born in me this season? Is God trying to get my attention?
