A Border Patrol car was spotted in our town. We’re situated 80 miles from Canada, but many of us had never seen the Border Patrol here before. Word quietly spread that the agents had been seen knocking at the door of a family’s home and coming to their workplaces. What is it like to live amid uncertainty and fear for your family, day after day?
All of us are deeply loved and claimed by God. God has no favorites. The call to love our neighbors as we love ourselves reverberates deeply within us. We have no choice in the matter as we follow Jesus. For us it isn’t a matter of “they do jobs that we white people won’t do.” It is a matter of supporting our sisters and brothers when they flee from violence and poverty.
