In Sunday school, I learned about God’s love and Jesus’ saving grace. God reaches us in and through all circumstances of our lives. On my first day of fourth grade, my family’s world shattered when my father suddenly passed away in the middle of the night. My mother was in shock, newly widowed with four young children. An ambulance was called.
Out of the blue, one of the ambulance attendants knelt down in front of me and said, softly but clearly, “You have to be strong and brave for your mother.” I felt as though an angel had spoken to me. When we finally got back into bed that night, I remember earnestly asking for God to take care of my family. I was only 9 years old but I had heard the good news: God is love; God is good, and God will take care of God’s sheep.
