Growing up in a large family, I have experienced the joys and challenges of sibling love. Family gatherings are always loud and full of laughter, a gift we did not choose, but one we cherish. However, conflicts do arise from time to time, particularly around political and social issues. Sibling love is a precious bond, but it does not guarantee the absence of deep disagreements.
As we navigate the societal storms around us, I am reminded of the importance of sharing love, mercy and compassion with my siblings, even when our views differ. Jesus himself embodied these virtues toward all he encountered, including those who ultimately betrayed him. We cannot choose our biological family, but we can choose to change the game and disrupt any logic that leads to hatred. We are empowered by God to love, show mercy and offer compassion. It is crucial for my siblings and I to stay united during these highly turbulent times. We are stronger when we weather the divisive currents together.
