Chances are good that most of us will never come into a position of royal authority like Queen Esther in the Bible. Most of us won’t even run for public office. Yet each day, we do have the opportunity to choose between what is right and what is popular; to act with integrity and respect; to either remember that we are all connected or think only about ourselves.
In these ways, each day we have the chance to touch another life for good. Of course, most of the time our choices aren’t glamorous. They won’t get us national attention or make us rich. But through baptism, we each receive a calling as God’s child to serve our neighbor. When we use our gifts to serve God and our neighbor, no small act of kindness or generosity goes to waste.
