You’d think that after creating everything in the world, God would make some place holy—a mountain, a forest—someplace that would become a cathedral, a sanctuary. But God did not make a place holy. God made time holy. Six days of the week our attention is given to the needs and gifts of our creative, busy lives. Six days a week we create and see the goodness of our creative activities, but on the Sabbath day we are to become attuned to the sacredness of life itself. As we rest and practice the Sabbath we become more and more aware of the holiness of time.
