I’m not a people person. I prefer to view them from a distance. This doesn’t mean I don’t love them. Their joy makes me happy; their sorrow or fear makes me ache. But I dislike crowds.
Prayer, though, is a whole different thing. Sometimes the most profoundly moving prayer experience happens in the heart of my church with people all around. Just as pointillism or dots of color can combine to show a picnic, people bowing together in prayer join to reveal a picture of faith.
It’s a satisfying picture, isn’t it?
