Mary was in her early 40s when she was drawn so clearly into a new place with God that she noticed the change. A single parent raising three children, working and going to school, she was impatient, harsh, fearful and angry more often than she was kind, gentle, patient or controlled.
Finally she noticed she was venting unacknowledged frustration on her children. Seeking help, she heard, “Why don’t you accept God’s forgiveness for what you are doing, and let God help you?”
Have you ever been where Mary walked? Are you willing to accept all the goodness and mercy that God offers you? Are you willing to be forgiven and to forgive yourself?
Today we remember The Holy Innocents, Martyrs. This message was adapted from “The Power of Forgiveness” written by Lynn C. Ramshaw that first appeared in the January/February 2008 issue of Lutheran Woman Today (now Gather) magazine.
