So, Jesus. Who do we say that you are? Perhaps what we need most is a God who will not give up on us, who will love us in spite of our unbelief, our confusion, our passivity, our neglect. When your disciples did not understand your teachings, you did not flunk them and find replacements. No, instead you loved them, taught them and forgave them. You were faithful to them. You continued to be a light for them.
As you are to us. You dared come to us in the manger. You persist in teaching and calling us to your word. You offer us a world of wonder and need and gift us to serve. We can wish upon your star, and then find it within ourselves to act. Thank you, Jesus, our Messiah.
