Where is the “green zone” on the continuum of parenting—the happy medium between letting our children run around freely and hovering over them in order to keep them safe and help them succeed?
Keeping our children safe. That’s the bottom line, isn’t it? That need seems to argue that parents should hover over them, becoming “helicopter parents.” Parents are called to teach their children that success and failure are part of life, that tears will be followed by smiles and the desire to try again.
Parenting is hard work. So is growing up. God loves and watches over these amazing little people even more than we do.
