“Very truly, I tell you, the hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.” (John 5:25)
Jesus’ actions change the now. In every now, Jesus injects the possibility of hope for newness, for healing, for joy. Jesus gives us grounding, courage and reason to be ambassadors of the same in every now we experience.
My father, George Madsen, a retired New Testament theological and pastor, put it this way: In John’s Jesus, every now, “can be defined in terms of grace and truth, life-giving water, worship in spirit and truth, light, knowing, seeing, freedom, being a child of God, and having continual access to God’s continuing activity.”
