Becoming more human

1.12.2017
|
Daily Grace

It can be tempting to praise acts of generosity as exceptional or saintly. Jesus reminds us, however, that we should not be amazed by giving. Instead, he tells us that giving should be normal because humans are designed to give to help meet the needs of those we love. Stewardship, then, is not about being extraordinary. It is about becoming more human and more like the people God created us to be. When we recognize our own generous spirits, we will more fully trust God to provide.

This is adapted from “Even you are generous,” a stewardship devotion that appeared in the July 2013 issue of Interchange. It was written by Emma Crossen.

The pandemic has resulted in many sacrifices, says today's blogger Pastor Jennifer Michael. Yet, in the midst of uncertainty, we must believe that God will provide, just as God did for Abraham. We must reveal the depth of our faith, even in uncertainty. womenoftheelca.org/blog/post/… pic.twitter.com/QJrQ0fEjdz
