I saw a tweet the other day from a women’s magazine encouraging readers to check in on their mental and physical health regularly. To that reminder, I would add spiritual health. We can all benefit from a daily check-in on our spiritual health. Consider it soul care.
Meister Eckhart, a 13th-century German theologian, is famously remembered for having said, “If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough.” In that vein, many have adopted a daily gratitude practice. At the end of the day, sit down, reflect on the day and identify what you are grateful for. Many record their brief list in a journal. Now consider: How could you as women in your congregation, support each other’s spiritual health? Encourage one another? Pray for one another?
What better way to start the new year than to care for your spiritual heath, loving yourself so that you are better able to love your neighbor?
