Jesus’ resurrection has changed everything! We are free and empowered—to heal, to make difficult decisions, and to live with the consequences. Hope is our openness to the future. Think about it: We cannot control what happens once we put our faith into action in love. God’s word is afoot in us! And hope frees us to do what we believe needs to be done for the sake of healing—and to live with the ambiguity that could result.
This message is adapted from “1 Corinthians 13 and Everyday Life,” written by Gwen Sayler in the January 1993 issue of Lutheran Woman Today (now Gather) magazine.Today we remember the Martyrs of Uganda, who died in 1886, and John XXIII, Bishop of Rome, who died in 1963.
