Christ is present in the communion of saints, in the unity and diversity of Christ’s body. Christ is present with us always, bestowing hope and peace in these uneasy times. God will always find a way to be with God’s people. And in the presence of God and the people of God, I find Christ to be generous with hope and peace, even when I am not paying attention. I have come to realize that even when things feel hopeless and sorrowful, the communion of saints gathers around me, lifting the weight that threatens to keep me from breathing, moving me closer to hope.
The diversity of Christ’s body reveals Christ’s presence to the world, easing the burdens and providing the breath of life and a glimpse into the reign of God where all members support and care for one another. Seeing how the body of Christ has been, is and will be there for one another gives me hope and keeps me from the temptation of mulling over all the ills of the world.
