There are people around us every day who feel overwhelmed with the trials and tribulations of life. How do we develop God-like ears to really hear their cries? To be the familiar face and safe place? God-like ears listen, and listen carefully. They show interest through facial expression and body language. They never ask, “How are you?” and then walk on without waiting for an answer. God-like ears listen intently to what is said and to what is not said. God-like ears listen openly and with a nonjudgmental attitude. And God-like ears listen with Christian love.
This message is adapted from “How Do We Get God-like Ears” written by Kathie Bender Schwich in the January/February 2000 issue of Lutheran Woman Today (now Gather) magazine.
