In his 1519 “Sermon on Preparing to Die,” Martin Luther encourages us not to be troubled by questions and doubts but to focus instead on God’s promises. Luther grasped that the life of faith is not about answers; it’s about relationship. Faith is not religious knowledge. Faith is trust—trust that God is for me, for you, for us.
