“I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that lived first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, lives in you” (2 Timothy 1:5).
These words appear in the late first-century letter 2 Timothy. Although likely written by a follower of Paul, the Timothy epistles are presented in Paul’s voice. We may not be certain who wrote the letters, but we can feel sure that Paul recognized how well his young associate Timothy had been nurtured. Each of my grandmothers, too, helped form my Christian identity and gave me parents who modeled how to love as God loved us. What models have you had?
