God, you invite us into relationship with you. You create us to live in community, in relationship with others, some of whom we know well, and some whose connection is layers deep.
Our connectedness begins and ends with you. Is prayer our life’s conversation with you, our yearning and our joy, our grief and our awe, our despair and our hope, all laid before you, our souls eager to be held tenderly and blessed?
You are our source and our spark. Might prayer be your invitation for us to wonder beyond our own vision?
This message is an excerpt from “Prayer’s courage” by Catherine Malotky in the June 2018 issue of Gather magazine. Today we remember James of Jerusalem, martyr, who died around 62.
