Life’s interruptions invite us into something new. As I’ve encountered life’s interruptions, I’ve seen a divine invitation to embrace neighbors in a new way.
Most of us are called to wait and hope and care for neighbors by remaining in our homes. Some of us are called to go out to work, serving our neighbors from at least six feet away or while wearing personal protective equipment. Suddenly we are not in control, as we wait for the development of vaccines, better treatments, and more widespread testing.
We can always count on interruptions—even this one—to be followed by invitations from God, in whom we trust. As we grieve the interruptions, may we also accept the providential invitations. In doing so, we encounter Christ and bless our neighbors and our souls.
How is God inviting us to love and serve our neighbors—perhaps even unnoticed ones—in new ways?
