When I look around, God, I am aware that this one-body idea is not embraced by our culture. There are plenty of people in our world who get underrated. Our history is rife with human jockeying for position.
What about that one-body idea, God? What about your vision that we each have a role to play in life, where all have enough to thrive, and all have value in your eyes? Why do we persist at this score-keeping, which is so divergent from your vision? Perhaps we are less strong and secure than we think we are. Perhaps we are, deep down, afraid that we will trade places.
Oh, God. Root us deeply to your grace. Remind us that everyone you have made is vital to your vision, including us and excluding no one. Teach us to embrace difference, live in its abundance and joyfully learn to manage. Help us repent daily, that we might be freed from our fears.
