Dear God, You are always in our future, beckoning us toward a reign of justice we are not sure we want to reach. We think of the things that are past and wish you would give us, again, that with which we were comfortable. Thank you for the assurance that you are always with us as we make those difficult decisions that as Christians we must make for the sake of love and justice. Give us also the courage to follow your leading into the future, striving always to love as you have loved. In your name, we pray. Amen
This prayer was featured in “Called to Ethical Decision Making,” part of the “Called to” series published by Women of the ELCA in 2002. Please pray that the voting members of the Tenth Triennial Convention, which begins today, make good and right decisions. Today we remember Benedict of Nursia, abbot of Monte Cassino, who died around 540.
