A job is more than a paycheck. It is a vocation, a calling, a place for our spirit to grow.
God called many people to new challenges; some were even significant career changes. Noah built an ark that saved human civilization (and he was old). Moses led slaves out of Egypt (and he really didn’t want to do it). Mary, mother of Jesus, sacrificed a simple life to give birth to our savior.
That very savior called on others to change their jobs. Brothers Simon and Peter spent their days fishing, as did James and John. These men didn’t hesitate when Jesus called them. Immediately, they left their boats, their nets, and their fathers, and followed him.
As you move through the days of your job, the same may happen to you. Whether it is your first job or your last, consider it divine, a calling from God to do the best you can do.
