Craftivism is a form of activism that employs traditional crafts as mediums for social and political change. This approach combines the personal and communal aspects of crafting with the broader goals of activism to create a dialogue around social issues through creative expression.
This resource explores craftivism with an activity example. During the 2026 Women of the ELCA Triennial Gathering, the “Quilting God’s Dream for Our Nation” activity, hosted by ELCA Witness in Society,
invited participants to envision less anxious and divided times through creative expression.

The Beloved Campus Ambassador program aims to connect young adult students with girls aged 7-12 and women active in WELCA within ELCA congregations. Thus, creating opportunities for learning about life and faith, and bridging the age gap from girls and young women to women over 55.

Were you at the 2026 I am Worthy Gathering?
At the triennial gathering, WELCA Campus Ambassadors led the Girls Space in the exhibit hall. Together with the college students, participants created a memorial for WELCA, calling on the organization to create a Bible study for teens, and participated in an intergenerational activity in the Quilting area, where they learned how to tie quilts.
