What We Do
Engage in Ministry and Action

There are as many ways to engage in ministry and action as there are women in the church. Here are some avenues to explore:

Anti-racism
Today's Dream: Tomorrow's Reality anti-racism educationOne of the principles of Women of the ELCA is to hold an anti-racist identity. Our Today's Dream: Tomorrow's Reality anti-racism education network stands ready to help you explore growth in this area. Then, once you've done that, check out the opportunities for a cross-cultural exchange event. Many women call it the highlight of their faith journey.

Care for creation
There are hundreds of ways to engage in this action area. Check out the care for creation pages, engage in a water project, and explore the possibilities in your home and community.

CSE
Commercial sexual exploitation (CSE), or sex trafficking, is a growing concern. See how you can engage in combating CSE.

LWR projects
Lutheran World Relief is our partner in meeting the needs of the world, especially in disaster situations and in ensuring fair living wages for products. Check out the possibilities for you to be involved in parish projects, fair trade, and advocacy.

Quilt made during Women's History Month 2006Too many stories to tell! Quilting has been in the blood of Women of the ELCA participants since "day one" of the organization — and before. It's impossible to know how many quilts have been made for Lutheran World Relief distribution overseas and for local community needs where you live. Yet we know that the tradition lives on. Women are regularly quilting to meet the needs of people worldwide.

As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.
